New feature will allow members to pay with points for Amazon.com purchases.

Members love to receive rewards and rewards programs are beneficial for credit unions. Loyalty programs are known for incentivizing card use and increasing member retention. Did you know that activation rates are 15% higher for card portfolios with rewards and spending can be as much as 40% higher among cardholders who are part of a rewards program?

uChoose Rewards, offered through our partnership with Fiserv, is a robust, customizable rewards program that supports both consumer and small business members on both the credit and debit sides of the house. As a flexible platform, credit unions can opt to offer a merchant-funded, issuer-funded, or blended program. Rules are set by the credit union, including earn rates, thresholds, caps, and life of points. They can then use points through their credit union’s website to make purchases with the points they have accrued. But now, a new way to cash in points will soon be available in 2022: Pay With Points on Amazon.com

New Feature: Pay With Points

Members have long had over a million redemption offers to access in using their accrued points. The Merchant Network includes over 8,000 local and regional retailers. But the latest option for using points is coming soon. Exclusively on Amazon.com, members will be able to apply points directly to their purchases at checkout. By using their linked credit union card as their primary payment method in Amazon, members will be able to use the points accrued through the uChoose Rewards program as payment!

“This is one more way that credit unions will be able to achieve top-of-wallet, first-app status,” stressed Karen Martin, Product Owner for Payments at Synergent. “Credit unions have great flexibility in how they choose to administer uChoose Rewards, but members being able to pay with their points directly within the Amazon platform adds another layer of convenience. Members still can opt to redeem points for cash back, travel, merchandise, or gift cards, but being able to pay with points on Amazon.com is an everyday, integrated way to spend accrued points.”

While Pay With Points will be limited to purchases on Amazon.com, additional retailers will be added in the future.
