Senior Creative Designer

This position is responsible for developing high-quality graphic designs and layouts for forms, marketing, and advertising materials. The senior creative designer helps develop creative direction and works with others on the Marketing Services creative team to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and overall quality and creativeness of work produced by the team. The senior creative designer takes a leadership role in ensuring that marketing objectives are translated into strong, creative, innovative campaign strategies.

Essential Functions

  • Take a leadership role in organizing, coordinating, and establishing creative direction for the creative design team, ensuring thought leadership, accuracy, highly creative designs, and timely handling of all assignments. Develop creative concepts and designs, layout, and typeset jobs quickly and accurately, based on job requirements with highly creative concepts and effective executions.
  • Plan, design, create, and produce high-quality, innovative creative from inception through pre-press production within time and cost budgets. Work closely and collaboratively with staff and management ensuring the proper creative and technical execution of job requirements.
  • Coordinate, design, and collaborate with team members to ensure copy and imagery mesh to create the desired job objectives and initiative success. Collaborate for multi-channel marketing, acting as lead creative designer where appropriate. Assist in partnering and collaborating to provide digital marketing and web development solutions. Lead initiatives to create credit union branded, front-end member-centric web experiences.
  • Gain and maintain a proficient understanding of pre-press and press operations, and requirements and services provided by the department. Deliver a range of creative ideas and solutions per project parameters for credit unions and internal customers. Make recommendations regarding budgets, planning, and goals for all creative initiatives.
  • Gain and maintain proficiency in the use of the hardware/software systems, tools, and techniques used by the department. Actively participate in the identification, assessment, and recommendation of methods and tools that enhance the productivity and performance of the department. Assist in the development of creative content, automation, and variable data output. Plan, organize, and implement digital assets.
  • Proof jobs and produce finished output directly for pre-press. Log time in job tickets and time sheets. Resolve and/or assist in the resolution of hardware/software problems. Perform routine maintenance of software and files as appropriate. Maintain design projects, files, and imagery. Back up work-in-progress files and images to the network daily, and archive completed jobs to the network on a weekly basis.

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • 3-5 years of experience providing high-level of creative design required with proficiency in current and applicable design functions. Extensive experience with Adobe Creative Cloud design tools is required in this role.
  • Ability to lead creative teams, Excellent communication skills to convey information effectively and efficiently.
  • Strong organizational skills are necessary for prioritizing and managing varying responsibilities and workloads.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and liaison within a challenging and diverse environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changes and adjust priorities with little notice.
  • Ability to learn new concepts and skills to continually expand knowledge, abilities, and advance with industry changes.
