Employee Spotlight: Alexis Lindsay, Data Mining Specialist I

Synergent’s mission is to ‘help credit unions succeed and improve the financial lives of their members.’ In our monthly Employee Spotlight series, we feature one of our dedicated staff members to help you get to know the people who are working as an extension of your credit union team.

Alexis Lindsay

Alexis Lindsay, Data Mining Specialist I, continues to help Synergent’s credit unions attract and retain members. Since joining Synergent in 2018, she has gained a variety of key skills across the marketing and data fields. Through this, she has been able to focus on areas of interest to her, developing her skills to grow professionally while helping our credit unions thrive through customized, creative member marketing campaigns.

“I started as a Marketing Specialist and quickly found a strong interest in data while working alongside our Data Mining Specialists,” explained Lindsay. “I believe my role was initially geared towards a transition to sales as a Marketing Services Representative, but I’ve always had a passion for technology.”

A typical day in her role involves fulfilling marketing requests for Synergent’s Marketing Services credit union customers, doing a blend of data mining and marketing support work, and often helping internally with design and print projects.

“In my role as it stands today, I’m a generalist,” said Lindsay. “If it has anything to do with marketing, I can help. From business cards to marketing targets, I can be there, even if just as a sounding board, for credit unions.”

While she has only been in her current role for a few months, she is enjoying the increased exposure to and focus on data as she sheds more and more of her previous Marketing Specialist role responsibilities.

“I prefer to work behind-the-scenes,” said Lindsay. “I enjoy the types of challenges that come with data mining and analysis. I also loved programming courses in college and knew I had a knack for it.”

Having the drive to further her education, Lindsay decided to return to school to enhance her understanding and abilities within the business sphere.

“I will be finishing up my Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Business Analytics later this year,” shared Lindsay. “I’ve learned so much, specifically in my data-focused courses, including database management, various programming languages, data visualization, and more. I chose graduate school because I love a challenge. This path, in particular, has exposed me to new perspectives, new skillsets, and a wealth of knowledge concerning the current state of technology, analytics, and where it’s all headed.”

This wealth of information will only assist Lindsay in continuing to help credit unions, as it equips her with even more tools for understanding and utilizing data points.

“My favorite part about my job is helping to refine and innovate processes that really are the bread and butter of what we do,” said Lindsay. “I feel valuable as a new set of eyes, identifying issues, or contributing new ideas and supporting my team as best I can.”

Supporting Credit Unions with Data and Marketing Expertise

Lindsay considers her promotion to Data Mining Specialist I to be the highlight of her career at Synergent. It was years in the making, but she feels it was well worth the wait. Now, she is able to dig deeper into the data at hand, putting what she has learned and continues to learn into action for the benefit of credit unions.

“I’ve learned that everything is changing twice as fast as it did yesterday,” reflected Lindsay. “The marketing environment, specifically in terms of technology, is incredibly fluid and dynamic. It’s important to remain curious and thirsty for knowledge.”

Synergent’s Marketing Services team has proven successful at this, and they have been recognized nationally numerous times due to their incredible work supporting our credit unions. This is something Lindsay is thrilled to have had a hand in.

“I am very proud of all the marketing awards we’ve won in the past few years,” shared Lindsay. “Everyone on the team works hard, year after year, on behalf of our credit unions to represent excellence in marketing. The awards encompass everything from design to data, so I am happy to bring it all together and have been leading that charge since I started.”

Lindsay shared deep appreciation for her team due to the invaluable support they have shown her over the years that has helped her grow in this industry. When not on the clock, she enjoys reading, cooking, gaming, and traveling.
