The Maine Credit Union League and Synergent, alongside credit unions from across Maine, presented Good Shepherd Food Bank with a check for $236,033.
Here in our home state of Maine, food pantries and food insecurity programs are facing critical shortages. We are proud to have partnered with the Maine Credit Union League to launch an emergency relief fundraiser in which our two organizations committed to matching $100,000 in funds donated to the Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger in April. The initiative was a remarkable success, raising a total of $236,033.
“When Elise Baldacci, President of the Maine Credit Union League, reached out to me about Good Shepherd Food Bank’s urgent need, we did not hesitate to jump in and help,” said Randy Stolp, President of Synergent. “We wanted to do everything we could to help raise awareness and support our local credit unions and the League in this initiative. We are so proud to have been part of this wildly successful emergency fundraiser and to have positively impacted our neighbors in need.”
On May 15, the emergency donation was presented to Heather Paquette, President of Good Shepherd Food Bank. They serve as Maine’s largest hunger-relief organization and have reported a loss of 250,000 pounds of food per month, year-over-year, due to reductions in federal funding.
