Social Responsibility

Synergent is committed to making a difference to our credit unions, their members, and their communities.

As a Credit Union Service Organization (CUSO) owned and governed exclusively by credit unions, Synergent shares the common purpose, values, and culture of its credit union partners. The People Helping People philosophy instills in Synergent a deep commitment to the communities our credit unions serve. Although we support a wide variety of causes, our signature social responsibility effort over the last two decades has been to help end food insecurity in our home state of Maine.

What is the Maine Credit Unions Campaign for Ending Hunger?

Synergent is a proud sponsor of Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger. Credit unions and chapters across the state participate in this signature social responsibility campaign that is the largest, non-hunger organization-based philanthropic fundraising effort to end hunger in Maine. Since 1990, the Campaign has raised over $13.5 million, including $1,221,868.94 raised in 2023.

$100,000 Campaign for Ending Hunger Challenge

To help the Campaign meet its fundraising goals and provide much-needed financial assistance to hunger relief organizations across Maine, a special fundraiser is held annually in June during National Hunger Awareness Month: The $100,000 Campaign for Ending Hunger Challenge. The goal of the Challenge is to raise at least $100,000 for the Campaign in 30 days. Funds raised have benefitted Good Shepherd Food Bank, local food pantries, and meal sites
