As we enter our 50th year of service, Synergent is committed to making a difference to our credit unions, their members, and their communities. We accomplish this through the services and support we provide our credit union partners, and also through the social responsibility initiatives in which we engage.
We provide managed services credit unions across the country, but hunger is a significant problem within our home state of Maine. We are proud to support the Maine Credit Unions Campaign for Ending Hunger as our signature social responsibility effort.
What is the Maine Credit Unions Campaign for Ending Hunger?
Credit unions and chapters across the state participate in this signature social responsibility campaign that is the largest, non-hunger organization-based philanthropic fundraising effort to end hunger in Maine. Since 1990, the Campaign has raised over $10.4 million, including a record-breaking $969,775.42 raised in 2020.
$100,000 Campaign for Ending Hunger Challenge
At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, with unemployment rising and employees around Maine furloughed, food pantries throughout the state experienced an unprecedented spike in the need for hunger relief. Traditional fundraising, however, was becoming increasingly difficult. In June 2020, the Maine Credit Union League coordinated a month-long credit union fundraising initiative, the Campaign for Ending Hunger $100,000 Challenge to support Good Shepherd Food Bank’s COVID-19 response and community food pantries. Synergent pledged $100,000 to kickstart the effort, which ultimately raised over $230,000 in just 30 days!
