Employee Spotlight: Ashley Saunders, Product Implementation Analyst

Synergent’s mission is to ‘help credit unions succeed and improve the financial lives of their members.’ In our monthly Employee Spotlight series, we feature one of our dedicated staff members to help you get to know the people who are working as an extension of your credit union team.

Ashley Saunders

Ashley Saunders, Product Implementation Analyst, has six years under her belt with Synergent. In that time, her love for credit unions has only grown!

Saunders spends her days ensuring any new ATM and/or debit or credit card product is implemented and runs properly from the time of setup. She also dedicates time to adding new products to existing portfolios. The path she has taken within the organization has allowed her to absorb a wide range of knowledge on the offerings and products Synergent offers to benefit credit unions and their members.

“When I first started, I was a Customer Service Representative for Payments,” explained Saunders. “After a few years, I joined the Product Implementation team. My first role was offering support to the credit unions and their existing products, and now I help build those same programs.”

While she has been with Synergent for six years, her exposure to the company extends much further.

“Prior to working at Synergent, I was lucky enough to work at a credit union who had gone through a conversion with Synergent,” detailed Saunders. “I always remember thinking about how amazing everyone we worked with was. The experience I gained with the credit union made me very familiar with the debit and ATM programs, so it seemed to be a great fit for me.”

She has come full circle, going from working at a credit union that Synergent serves to helping man the Synergent Implementation team. She continues to hold her love for credit unions close to her heart.

“When working at the credit union, it’s just special!” reflected Saunders. “You really form an extended family with your coworkers and members. Synergent provides all the tools that help credit unions run, and Synergent’s goals are the same with regards to ensuring the best member experience and making it easier for the staff to provide that experience.”

Driving Credit Union Success Through Member-Focused Solutions

Saunders is focused on helping credit unions succeed for their members. Her role is crucial to credit unions during transition periods, as she and her team are responsible for properly setting up debit and credit card programs and ATMs.

“When we have new credit unions who sign with Synergent, it’s important that we set up their debit and credit card programs and ATMs so that when the transition happens from the old processor to us, members’ cards work seamlessly,” explained Saunders. “It’s also important as we set up new programs that we are offering the best solutions for the credit union and their members. For example, making sure we are providing the best fraud tools so the credit union can avoid as much fraud as possible.”

Managing all of this successfully is a big task, but Saunders and her team tackle it with care, attention to detail, and an abundance of insight.

“Most recently, we have been converting credit card programs to our in-house credit product,” said Saunders. “It’s always satisfying when you move a credit card program from an old processor to Fiserv/Synergent and watch the cards work as expected.”

It’s exciting and satisfying for the team any time they bring new debit or credit card programs live and see the transactions receiving good approvals. Since joining the organization, Saunders has grasped the importance of putting in hard work.

“When you put the hard work in, it pays off to see the end goal work and be successful!” she expressed.

Outside of work, Saunders’ family is her world. Her 13-year-old son is an athlete, and she enjoys running him to practices and games, as well as seeing him grow in his favorite sports, baseball and basketball.
