International Credit Union Day, which is always held on the third Thursday in October, is coming up this week. This year commemorates the 75th anniversary of this historic day that exists to raise awareness and celebrate credit unions’ mission to bring financial inclusion and well-being to people all over the world.

I want to take a moment to wish you a happy International Credit Union Day and to personally thank you for the valuable role you play in our credit union movement. This year’s celebration commemorates an important milestone: it is the 75th anniversary of International Credit Union Day! While credit unions have long been serving their members, the fact that we all come together—from around the globe—on this occasion to recognize our collective accomplishments is one of the many reasons our industry is so unique and special.
As many of you know, I have built my career working on behalf of credit unions. It is truly a privilege and an honor to get up every day knowing the job I’m doing helps support your efforts to improve the financial wellbeing of your members and communities. Every credit union is different, and no two members are the same, but what we all have in common is our deep-rooted commitment to carrying out our shared People Helping People philosophy on International Credit Union Day, and every day.
